Brickfield Pond has been enlarged!

The pond held water all year round but over time it become shallower due to leaf litter and cattle trampling. Deepening and enlarging the pond will provide a better environment for amphibians, particularly newts and frogs.

Thanks to our wonderful volunteers for helping clear the area to allow excavator access, and thanks to local ecologist Nathan Hume for leading the work!

Get Involved! Our next work party is on Feb 12th! Led by Nathan Hume, a dead hedge will be built around the pond, protecting it from the Cattle and creating a protected environment for small wildlife, all while utilising trimmed branches from around the meadows. Much better than a typical fence!
